Easter vacation

  • Elise and bananas
Grandma came to visit for the holidays and we ended Caleb's first term with an Easter Parade. We then took a vacation up the coast to Port Stephens and Coffs Harbour.

I love seeing my children laughing together. I couldn't pick just one.

Bec, thank you for stopping by. We are very much enjoying your country. Would love any suggestions on what burb to live in. We will be moving to one of them in a couple of months.

And I found that I can buy a regular drip coffee maker here. AND there is a Target--somewhere. So with those and Starbucks and Vonage, I'm not so "far" from home.

I have stumbled upon your blog through a series of links (not really sure how), but you are amusing me and making me homesick. I am Australian (from Sydney) and living in England. My kids are American (born in Hawaii!) But I really wanted to say that the area you are living in will be so different to the 'suburbs' you will end up in. And there is Starbucks in Australia. Last time I was there (about a year and a half ago) there was a new one on the corner of Hyde Park & Elizabeth St (also http://www.starbucks.com.au/en-AU/_Our+stores/_Community+Stores/Sydney+City.htm).
Go, go, go!

OK, well thank God you're getting some caffeine every morning. That was a close one!

All your thoughts on the importance of free range chickens made me laugh! I love your outlook! And I want you to know, that I will now respond, to my children's seemingly off the wall questions, with, "And what does that have to do with the price of bananas in Australia?" They won't get it, but I will think of you! :-)

I have been buying the coffee teabags. But when I can buy 50 teabags for 8 coffee bags, well we've begun to make some changes. I limit myself to one cup a day. Normally I'd have about three.

I have yet to find a place that sells coffee presses mainly because I have yet to really look for one. and I don't think there is a Wal-Mart. But I know there is a K-Mart because I saw a TV add.

Our apartment does come equipped with a Mistral electric teakettle and it really is quite handy. That is what I've been using so far.

Hold off on sending the coffee :) (and I'm really touched by all the offers) until I know if I can find a drip coffee maker--or a coffee press.

Ok, Leslie a press isn't that difficult. It's what Steve & I take/took along backpacking....and it is what he uses on the deer lease. It's just kinda instant coffee with real coffee.....does that make sense? Presses cost $5.00 at Wal-Mart....don't tell me W/M isn't in Sydney....I may immigrate tomorrow!

I'm with Bev...we need to ship you some coffee. Is that legal? :-)

We can even get Starbucks coffee in Athens. I'll send you some along with your mail. But you will have to purchase a coffee pot or coffee maker. Had no idea you had gone this long with no coffee! I'd be crazy!

Minnie Hart

I'm with Bev, too. Send us your address and we'll get you some coffee! I can't imagine having to go one day without my morning coffee.

I'm with Robin--you want me to send you some good coffee? I don't drink it but would go into complete meltdown if I didn't have my diet Coke everyday, so I can understand your pain:)

I believe I'd be willing to give up electricity and running water if it meant I could still have coffee. Tea and cookies would never cut it for me! How fun to hear all about Australia from you. I've always wanted to go there but honestly, if they don't have affordable coffee.....

I'm thinking if each of us who faithfully read you ship you a lb. of Starbucks you should be good for the next year or so. Address? A # of years back I had a friend who moved to China. Shirts didn't fit her husband so she asked me to shop at Sears and ship to her. So seriously, address if you need a coffee fix. I guarantee I would have already asked!

Now, don't get too comfortable over there with your tea and cookies. We do want you back. You are only on loan to Australia!
